Green Square redevelopment

Publicised as Australia’s largest urban redevelopment project, Green Square spans 278 hectares or urban renewal area forming a $13 billion urban renewal construction project.

The project, which will receive $540 million in contribution from the City over the next 10 years, is expected to be home to 61,000 people by 2030.

Developer Crown Group proposed a $41.3 million, eight-storey residential building within Sydney’s Green Square renewal precinct in March this year.

Other components of the major renewal project include the recently launched $32 million Green Square community and cultural precinct, built on the site of the former south Sydney hospital site.

The development also includes the under-construction Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

When fully-developed, Green Square will accommodate close to 61,000 people living in 30,500 new homes and provide around 21,000 permanent jobs.
